eDirectory Security with LDAP: Access Control and Configuration

The Access Control List (ACL) is a comprehensive list of all object properties in a directory. This session will discuss how ACLs are manipulated with LDAP, and how to use ACLs to control access to attributes and objects in a Novell eDirectory tree. The speaker will explain default eDirectory access controls and modification guidelines. Attendees will see how to evaluate access rights to objects and write programs to handle different user access rights in the eDirectory tree. Participants will learn how to plan and apply an eDirectory tree structure that makes it easier to enforce organizational security policies. Programming examples will be given in C and Perl.
