Feb. 21st, 2005 @ 09:24 pm Lazy day, weekend of doorknobs
Ever since the kid kept us up Friday night, I've been a little off. We're trying to get him to not need mom to sleep in his room half the night (we had to since the in-laws were using the trundle bed) and he cried for 2 hours.

Anyway, Saturday night we went to Veggie Heaven and I think the veggie squid and bacon didn't sit right. And then when I tried to make the SORK one of the legs was drilled all wrong and didn't fit so I had to go back on Sunday and wait in the returns line for an hour to get a new one. And then the doorknob to our coat closet broke and I had to buy a new one, and install it, after removing the door by the hinges. I also fixed the front door knob--it kept coming loose but I realized the screws went into wood and not the rest of the doorknob, so I was able to use some toothpicks and glue to shim the screws in tighter.

So my unexpected day off was mostly sitting around in a tired haze, except for tightening another doorknob (the glass door between the family room and living room.) I love the old doorknobs in our house--all the old doors are mortise locks with skeleton keys. We don't actually have the keys but I guess we could find them if we wanted. The brass on the knobs is worn, someday I'll polish them. I cleared out the Tivo too.

I'm glad I didn't have to go in.
