Apr. 20th, 2004 @ 09:04 pm It's here
I ordered an album over 6 months ago, prepaid, and I just got it. But it's okay because it's the new Marillion album. The money went to make them successful and popular again, like they were nearly 20 years ago. So far it seems like it might be working.

At any rate, this is an amazing thing I have. It's a double album in a 128 page hardcover book, that fits in another slipcover. The lyrics are on many pages, with amazing photos and graphic design. Some lyrics look as if they're printed on billboards and street signs. It's one of the coolest album packages I've ever seen, including box sets.

And the music. I know I'm always telling people to listen to more Marillion, but this one is really really special. If you like Radiohead, Pink Floyd, the Beatles, Talk Talk, the Blue Nile, or anything like those, you'll like this album. This means you, periol. It starts with a 15 minute long song that sounds like Radiohead would sound like if they could resist the urge to insert noise into their songs (mind you, I have no problem with that, but Marillion doesn't do it here.) Some of the songs are almost hymns, minimalist and beautiful. The second disc rocks harder than the first. I have many, many more listens to do, I will annoy my co-workers to no end, I may just walk around with the Nomad and shut the world out for a few weeks. I don't go to church anymore, this and maybe looking at nature is all I have.

So, yeah, life is good. I'm glad I'm in a place in my life where I can enjoy it.

I have listened to the other stuff, but never *really* listened. I've always needed to say - this is the album, I'll test it and see if I like it. Anyways, if you will somehow get me the audio files or lend me the cd or something, I will officially promise that if I like it I will buy it. I'll try to download it too, I guess. I'm just way too far gone past the stage of buying something on blind faith. The last album I bought on blind faith was Pulp "Different Class", and that was quite a while ago in band years.

Nice - the book alone sounds worth it.
