Took one of the cats, Eighball, to the vet today. He forgot the little guy is 9 1/2 years old, because he's so lean and healthy. The vet asked if he was "bright and alert" and we just start laughing. You mean, does he run around the house at top speed looking out every window? Does he meow at us every night before bed to play with him? So I guess that's good. We decided to let the vet cut his nails, so he takes him off in the back to do it, during which we hear this blood-curdling cat scream. Apparently he didn't react well to the nail clipping, despite being perfectly calm for the shots. He was growling for many minutes afterward. I think he's over it now--although apparently the vaccines usually make them tired for a day or so so perhaps he's sleeping it off.

its nice to know that someone understands that their cat isn't being murdered when they hear it scream

Be careful

You're talking to a man who shoots laser beams into their eyes, and would get a Roomba just to torture them, if it wasn't for the wife thing.

The wife has nothing to do with it. She wants a Tivo.

Really?

You mentioned a few times that you'ld get it if it wasn't for the fact that she wouldn't be too thrilled.

Who doesn't want a Tivo?

Oh yeah, my roommie who has one and never installed it, that's who.

8-ball

Your 8-ball sounds like our 8-ball. He hid the laser-pointer though. It disappeared right before Christmas.

I think you're a little unclear on how he's supposed to play with the laser pointer. You see, you hold it and he plays with the little dot. You don't give the thing to him to hide somewhere.

It's not a question of giving. It was on the coffee table one day and was gone the next. It's been a few weeks - I can't wait to see where it turns up.

His original dot was a laser level. It made a little "click" when you turned it on. It got so we could just "cluck" and he was at instant attention, pupils dilated wildly. He didn't make off with that one; it disappeared from a job site.
