You know what I want? I want a device that hooks up to my laptop (probably a PCMCIA or ExpressCard)that has a VGA input, as well as a PS/2 (or USB, what the hey) keyboard and mouse input, and lets me use my laptop as a VGA monitor, keyboard, and mouse, for another computer. I guess I could use a network KVM for this, but I've never seen a cheap consumer-grade one of those. And yes, I could use X or VNC or some such, and I would most of the time, but sometimes installing Linux or tweaking hardware would be made easier with the latter device.

Anyone?

Not a complete answer to your post, but RedHat can install via VNC now. Kinda neat.
